Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Ringlet's business SMS platform, pricing, team features, usage-based billing, and developer API.

What is Ringlet?

Ringlet is a business SMS and voicemail platform. You get a real US or Canadian phone number with a shared team inbox, voicemail transcription, push notifications, and a developer API.

How quickly can I get started?

You can pick a number and start receiving messages in under two minutes. No hardware or contracts required — just sign up, choose a plan, and go.

Do I need a second phone?

No. Ringlet works entirely through the web dashboard and native mobile apps. Your team can access the shared inbox from any device.

Can my whole team use the same number?

Yes. On Team and Business plans, you can invite team members and share phone numbers across your organization. Everyone sees the same inbox.

Pricing FAQ

What happens when my included usage runs out?

Your service pauses — no surprise overage charges. You can top up your balance manually or enable automatic top-ups with a configurable threshold and monthly spending cap.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect at your next billing cycle.

Is there a free trial?

We don't offer a free tier, but every plan includes monthly usage so you can try the service at low cost. The Personal plan starts at $10/mo with $3 in usage included.

How do top-ups work?

You can add $10, $25, $50, or $100 to your balance at any time. You can also set up automatic top-ups that trigger when your balance drops below a threshold you choose.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. You pay your plan subscription plus a $3 one-time activation fee per new phone number and $2/mo for each extra number beyond the one included. All usage rates are published and transparent.

Service & features

What countries are supported?

Ringlet currently offers US and Canadian phone numbers. We plan to expand to additional countries based on demand.

Is voicemail transcription accurate?

Voicemail transcription uses AI speech-to-text and is generally accurate for clear recordings. Accuracy may vary with background noise, accents, or low-quality audio. Transcription is included on all plans.

How does the developer API work?

The REST API is available on Team and Business plans. You create API keys in the dashboard, then use standard HTTP requests with JSON payloads. The API is documented with OpenAPI and supports listing numbers, sending SMS, reading messages, and managing voicemail.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use Cloudflare's global edge network for low-latency delivery and security. Role-based access controls let you manage who sees what in your organization.

Can I port my existing number to Ringlet?

Number porting is not yet available. Currently, you choose from available US and Canadian numbers in our inventory. We plan to add porting support in the future.

Ready to set up your team's inbox?

Pick a number, invite your team, and start receiving messages in under two minutes. Every plan includes usage — pay only for what you use.
